Local businesses are missing a trick if they neglect to stake out an online presence, according to Australian review website TrueLocal.com.au.
Businesses that claim and populate their online listings with relevant content in search directories increase visits to their business page by up to 60 percent, TrueLocal reports.
The website is running a ‘Stake Your Claim’ campaign to encourage businesses to enhance their listing on Truelocal by adding relevant content, including links to company websites, email addresses, opening hours, social media contact information, current deals and promotions, up to 10 images and Google Maps information.
“Many small businesses struggle when it comes to growing and marketing themselves cost effectively,” said Simon Carson, general manager of TrueLocal. “At TrueLocal, it is our goal to help local businesses connect with their customers. In today’s fast moving and erratic economy, it’s important that there small businesses have access to marketing services that are free and easy to use.”
The website will also be accessible on mobile devices with directory content available on a mobile website and iPhone app. This will allow people to find business information on the go, important for converting web traffic to foot traffic.
The campaign also revealed research that showed a relationship between quality content and web traffic:
- If your TrueLocal listing has been reviewed, you will receive quadruple the number of views than a basic listing.
- If your TrueLocal listing has more than 10 reviews, it receives an incredible 19 times more traffic than a basic listing.
- The combination of a high number of reviews and up to date content can give your TrueLocal listing well above 20 times more than a basic listing.
“There are tangible benefits of claiming your listing on TrueLocal. By taking control of your presence and encouraging customers to review your business, more customers will find you and more customers will call or visit you. Consumers really respond to seeing fresh content from both the business and other customers,” said Carson.
