Energy has been identified as the “biggest cost increase” by businesses. A global survey conducted by IBM found most businesses are concerned by the cost of energy, and are working towards reducing costs for their business, and for the environment.
Of those surveyed, 55 percent of SMEs are moving towards a greener IT system. But the overall trend to go green is not as common in the US, where businesses are less likely to make energy-efficient decisions.
"Despite the different reasons for small and midsized businesses to reduce their energy consumption, what's important is that businesses are taking action," says Steve Solazzo, IBM's Global Midmarket Business general manager. "The alignment of business interests and environmental interests underscores this important point: green business has become good business."
