A meditation expert and former monk has won the ‘Big Break’ competition, taking home $25,000 for creating the winning 30-second television commercial for Muffin Break.
Luke Hogan from Seaham NSW took out the four-week filmmaking competition, which was run in tandem with the Nine Network’s Today Show, with his Little Nibble TVC winning him the cash prize, as well as a home entertainment package worth $10,000.
Hogan created Little Nibble using photographs of actual muffins baked-fresh at his local Muffin Break stores at Kotara and Maitland on the NSW Central Coast. After digitally-editing the photographs, Luke used ‘Crazy Talk’ facial and 2D animation software to ultimately produce a result that was ‘too adorable’ for the judges to refuse.

According to Muffin Break spokesman Drew Edie, Hogan’s TVC managed to represent everything the franchise stands for.
“After much deliberation, we selected Luke’s entry primarily because it embodies Muffin Break’s core values and wide product range.”
“Muffin Break stores are intended to be a place to relax and recharge with a great-tasting coffee and muffin or light meal. Not only did Luke cleverly represent this, his adorable Little Nibble characters had every member of the judging panel gushing.”
Hogan said he plans to share his prize with family members who helped him create the TVC.
“I can’t wait to share my prize with my family, especially my niece who lent her voice to create the ad.”
“Through my entry, I tried to show Muffin Break as somewhere to relax among what is typically quite a hectic environment at shopping centres,” he added.
