Lumoid, a startup company that allows its customers to try an array of products before deciding whether or not they want to go ahead with a purchase, will be offering Apple Watches to rent from a $45 starting price.
A waitlist has been set up for those wanting to try out the Apple Watch after its April 24 release date. Not all Apple Watches will be available (you won’t be able to rent the high-end Edition version), but Apple Watch Sport and the steel Apple Watch will be on offer.
“It’s easy to see how a phone or computer or tablet fits into your life, but a watch that reminds you to stand or helps you pay for your groceries can be a harder sell, especially when you only get to test it in the store,” a Lumoid spokesperson told the folks at Mashable.
“We’ve shipped thousands of units for people to test out and are seeing a very high conversion rate between trial and purchase. People like the idea of being able to test drive wearables, because they have so many options, and then deciding which one to buy.”
The Apple Watch Sport will be available to rent for $45, with $25 going towards the purchase price, and the Steel Apple Watch will cost $55 to trail, with $30 going towards the purchase.
