Skype has released Skype for Android, a mobile app built for Google Android mobile phones running Android OS version 2.1 or above, with the app available from the Android Market.

Skype dropped support for the aging Windows Mobile platform earlier this year, however yesterday Skype’s Asia Pacific Vice President Dan Neary confirmed there would be no Skype support for Windows Phone 7, at least initially, but an iPad client is in the works.

Skype has launched Skype Manager which replaces Skype’s Business Control Panel and permits real time analysis and reporting along with centralised payments and deployment.

Skype is rolling out new monthly calling plans, allowing subscribers to call landline and mobile phones worldwide from as little as $1.49 per month.
