Each new fan of your business on social networking site Facebook, will drive about 20 new visits to your website, according to a recent analysis by Experian companies Hitwise and Techlightenment.
Hitwise and Techlightenment have produced a new Facebook Fan Acquisition and Analysis service that shows the financial revenue that is possible for brands who turn to social media marketing to reach consumers.
Robin Goad, Research Director at Hitwise, said companies have known the power of investing in Facebook for some time, but evidence of returns had not yet been well documented.
“With our combination of data sources we are able to show exactly what effect acquiring new Facebook fans has on website traffic; and over the course of a year each new Facebook fan will be worth 20 additional visits to a retailer’s website,” he said.
The new service helps businesses acquire new fans for their company. Facebook users are selected according to the likelihood they might be interested in a specific brand based on previous information they have uploaded onto Facebook. While user data is anonymous, companies can optimise Facebook ads to reach their target audience at the lowest possible cost.
The new service allows brands to gain tens of thousands of fans and is proven to help both online and offline sales.
Ankur Shah, CEO and co-founder of Techlightenment commented on the efficiency of this new service.
“The service allows us to charge on a cost-per-acquisition rather than a cost-per-ad basis, so the client will know exactly how much it will cost in advance to acquire quality Facebook fans which have relevant ties to their brand.”
With social media sites now the most frequented sites worldwide, businesses would do well to take advantage of the marketing opportunities they offer.
