In a world where we have such a strong online presence a bit of anonymity can be nice, however in business we cannot afford NOT to be known.
People cannot do business with you if they don’t know you exist. Furthermore, why would anyone do business with you if they do not know:
Let people know who you are, what you do and WHY they should do business with you. People need a reason to contact you. What are your unique selling points? How are you different? Why should they choose you? Give them a reason to act now.
Here’s a few more ways to avoid being anonymous and losing sales opportunities:
- Don’t waste your advertising dollars by mistakes. I have lost count of the number of signs and advertising leaflets I have read that have spelling errors or omit important information like a phone number or address.
- Get someone independent of your business to look at your website and advise how user-friendly it is. It is so frustrating trying to navigate many websites when the “contact us” information is buried or obscure. I want to do business with them but they are making it hard for me; in some cases I have given up and taken my money elsewhere.
- Make sure there is consistency in your advertising. Have a logo that is easily identifiable. Make sure you have the same logo, the same message and the same style. Think of the consistency of the Coca Cola company’s branding. The key branding elements remain the same over the space of time. As a result it is easily recognised all over the world regardless of what language is spoken.
