Communication between prospective employers and unsuccessful candidates has deteriorated dramatically, according to the results of an independent study of 1,000 Australian employees conducted by new jobs site, JobsLive.com.au.
A whopping 96% of employees who participated in the study believe employers and recruiters could do a better job of getting back to unsuccessful candidates.
78% of participants say they’ve been stuck in job search limbo where they applied for a job they really wanted but never received an acknowledgement, response or decision regarding their application.
Stuart Milne of JobsLive says candidates who spend their valuable time and share personal details have certain expectations about the hiring process and being ignored by a prospective employer can be a disappointing and frustrating experience.
"Getting rejected is never fun, but the whole process can be made harder by the poor etiquette of some employers," says Milne. "88% of employees said not knowing the status of their application or receiving the silent treatment from an employer or recruiter is worse being rejected outright for a job."
Following up on an online job ad can also be frustrating according to the study, with 29.4% admitting to have applied to a blind job ad even though they had no idea who the job was with, who to contact to confirm they received their resume or what the job actually entailed.
67% of workers say there are too many recruiters and temp agencies on job sites posting jobs that either do not exist or designed to pull them in for consideration of another position.
JobsLive is a revolutionary new jobs site aiming to remove some of the mystery behind online job ads.
"JobsLive lets job candidates track their progress at every stage of the application process by enabling employers to quickly and easily communicate with prospective employees though the JobsLive site," says Milne. "With a couple of clicks job seekers can manage their applications, see which employers are interested in them and who isn’t straight away making their job search much more efficient and less stressful."
Employers can also benefit through JobsLive’s sister site, HR Live, which allows employers to outsource the entire HR function.
"Employers can quickly and easily create applicant questionnaires, be notified if an applicant takes another position or withdraws their application and store applicants for future consideration without clogging up their inbox," says Milne.
Time poor employers will also benefit from our HR Live system which allows them to oursource the entire HR function and control.
