Commercial lift for Victorian business

Prominent aerospace manufacturer, Production Parts, will expand its operations thanks to a $967,634 Australian Government Commercial Ready grant.

Australian Industry Minister, Ian Macfarlane, said the funding will be used to further develop its manufacturing process of high precision aerospace components.

"Production Parts is a company at the leading edge of aerospace technology and an impressive example of the great work being done by Australia's manufacturers.

"The company never stands still – it is constantly striving to create new products and improve existing ones – that's what doing business in the 21st century is all about.

"This project will see the company join forces with two Victorian-based research institutes to advance manufacturing technologies using exotic materials, such as titanium.

"The company’s titanium-based alloy components are used in military equipment, space vehicles, aircraft engines, and airframes.

"New methods will be developed to work with these materials, hopefully providing a more accurate estimation of component processing times and tool life.

"The result will be superior processes and equipment which will deliver fully qualified, traceable and compliant aerospace components."

Mr Macfarlane said the initial markets are manufacturers and suppliers of components and sub-systems to the Joint Strike Fighter program.

“Major commercial airline manufacturers have new air frame delivery programs in which light weight, high technology new materials will form an increasing share of the total airframe, creating a large and growing long term market opportunity.”
