Group buying website OfferMe and Online Media Group (OMG), which operates Business.com.au, have combined to help Australian retailers capitalise on a fast-growing online market.
The partnership brings the worldwide web into the reach of business owners who are finding it difficult to acquire the right tools to conquer the online channel.
“Australian domestic retailers can compete effectively online but what they need is the tools, the support and a platform that enables them to collectively offer their products in the online market place. Then they can focus on what they do best, selling great products,” said James Wang, CEO of OfferMe.
The OfferMe/Business.com.au starter package gives businesses a variety of tools to try their hand at cracking the online space including group buy deals and eDMs (email direct marketing).
“In talking with Business.com.au, we found a partner who understands that it is not just about individual retailers trying to operate alone online and that by harnessing their joint power through directories—and, in OfferMe’s case, an online shopping centre—we can create destinations that attract and exceed the expectations of Australia’s online consumers,” Wang said.
Siri Kommedahl, general manager for Strategic Development and Operations at OMG, said the package was just like offering a retailer a place in a big online shopping centre and complements its Business Resource Centre package, which helps small businesses access the required products and services.
Wang added: “With over 60 percent of Australia’s small to medium retailers still without an online store front, a strong Australian dollar cutting the cost of overseas competition and the consumer’s continued thirst for online bargains and choice, Australian retail is in crisis. Fortunately, we believe that we can help.”
