Online monitoring company Hitwise has announced their Australia Online Performance Awards, recognising the most popular websites from 2008 in more than 100 industries.
Both online and offline brands were named at the top of their respective industries, including Wotif.com, ninemsn, Sony and BHP Billiton. Directories were also popular, with Natural Therapy Pages taking out the alternative medicine category and the Home Improvement Pages taking out the building and construction category.
“This is truly a ‘people’s choice’ award, as ultimately, organisations receiving a Hitwise Online Performance Award have been determined by Australian consumers,” says Michael Walmsley, general manager of Hitwise Asia Pacific.
The Hitwise ‘voting’ method involves a sample of 3 million online users and their usage of more than 140,000 local websites throughout the course of the year.
