The NSW Government has hosted a business pitching event to help build consortiums to take advantage of a new $6 million NSW digital economy program, with the event going off like a frog in a sock.
Applications opened on 2 February and close on 25 March for the Collaborative Solutions program’s ‘Mobile Concierge’ initiative, part of the Government’s $36 million Digital Economy Strategy.
Industry & Investment NSW is calling for applications to develop innovative mobile and wireless solutions for the tourism and retail sectors.
Over 130 people attended the Mobile Concierge business pitching event on 10 February which focused on small and medium sized ICT companies with innovative technologies and user organisations with a ready project needing ICT partners.
The event gave ICT companies and user organisations the opportunity to make introductions, business pitches, share ideas and help find suitable project partners.
There were 30 companies and organisations making brief four minute presentations followed by a networking lunch.
The Collaborative Solutions program will provide $2 million per year for the next three years to help business consortiums develop ICT-enabled solutions for various sectors of the digital economy.
Collaborative Solutions funding is open to business consortiums that can bring together mobile application developers, technology and service providers, device manufacturers, research organisations, and user organisations to deliver innovative and new-to-market solutions.
As a guideline, Government grants will cover a maximum of 35 per cent of total project costs up to $250,000. Higher amounts could be considered for exceptional proposals, with applications considered on a competitive basis.
