A new start-up is hoping to change the way Australians shop online by sharing website commissions with consumers.
Prplness.com, which launched earlier this year, aims to unlock millions of dollars in coupons and cashback deals for online shoppers.
“Social shopping is going to be huge. In my opinion, no one has yet cracked that space. We will be launching stage two of our site in the coming months and hope we get closer to doing just that,” says founder Lucas McEntee.
“Prplness is a social shopping site I believe to be an Australian first, offering cashback, coupons, comparison as well as offering over 10m products all on the one platform unlike other cashback sites that only feature one of these features.”
McEntee says the idea for the business was inspired by his own experiences shopping online.
“I found it frustrating to find the best deals online with so much to choose from and using a number of different sites. Google’s always the first start but then when you really get down to it, you need to look at and research dozens of individual retail sites to really get a great deal,” he says.
After coming out of beta in mid-March, Prplness now features over 10 million products from over 1000 retailers based in the UK, US, and Australia, and is already looking to expand.
“We’re going to expand into offline through our existing retailer network via mobile devices, allowing consumers to take advantage of store coupons or receive cashback in store,” says McEntee.
Despite the long nights involved in building the site, McEntee says he’s enjoying the hard work.
“There’s a long checklist in front of us and I’m enjoying tackling the challenges ahead.”
