The annual Global Startup Battle (GSB) is one of the biggest startup events in the world, and this year it’s coming to Australia.
Aussie e-commerce startup Bigcommerce announced it will be hosting the first E-Commerce Circle as part of the GSB this November, looking to find the most innovative and promising team for a month-long stay at the Bigcommerce office.
A Circle is a themed startup competition being held within the GSB, calling on teams to submit video pitches and gain crowd votes.
Steve Case of UP Global, producers of the GSB, said the event provides a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to connect and learn from each other.
“As access to the $250 billion global online marketplace for retailers and merchants is increasingly democratised, e-commerce provides a compelling opportunity for young startups to go toe-to-toe with giants in their space,” Case said.
Eddie Machaalani, CEO of Bigcommerce, agreed that e-commerce is one of the fastest ways for startups to get off the ground.
“The E-Commerce Circle was created because we have the tools, experience, and knowledge to help these online entrepreneurs become successful,” Machaalani said.
The winners will have access to a personal e-commerce coach, collaborative office space, their own online store with built-in marketing tools, and tickets to SXSW Interactive 2014 in Texas.
