It seems the uptake of digital television has been slower that expected, with new figures showing more than half of Australian households haven’t yet embraced digital television.
Measurement company OzTam says that as of March this year, around 43 percent of households across the five major cities were connected up to digital television, with Perth leading the way with 47 percent of households digitally ready. Sydney is lagging behind, with only 40 percent able to receive the signal.
The analog system will start being phased out across Australia from next year, with most expected to be shut out by the end of 2013.
