Global logistics company DHL has recently launched shipping services that eliminate paperwork, moving services completely online.
Customer's can now submit shipment details electronically via e-mail. A confirmation e-mail is then sent out with an attached air waybill and the necessary declaration forms to print and attach to their shipment.
The new online shipping process aims to reduce costing businesses time, and importantly, does not require additional software installation. The basic configuration of a PC, with internet connection, e-mail system and Acrobat Adobe or Microsoft Excel programs should be suffuicient to get you started.
DHL's Senior Vice President Oceania Mr Gary Edstein articulated the timely emergence of such a system "the process is now closer to customer's communications work flows, which are increasingly dominated by electronic means"
