Running your own business can be stressful, which is why it’s worthwhile taking a day to relax and stress down.
Today is Stress Down Day, a Lifeline initiative dedicated to reducing stress and raising awareness of Lifeline’s work.
Stress Down Day is an annual event encouraging students and workers to wear slippers to school or work, and dress up or down to raise money for Lifeline.
Lifeline states that “experiencing stress is part of being alive, and some stress helps increase our alertness and energy to meet challenging situations. If stress lasts a long time or overwhelms our ability to cope, it can have a negative effect on our health, wellbeing, relationships, work, and general enjoyment of life.”
The issue of mental health in the workplace has recently begun to gain more attention. The Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance was launched earlier this month.
Employers can play a key role in helping workers with poor mental health by providing comfortable, supportive environments.
Money raised for Stress Down Day will go towards helping Lifeline run its 24-hour phone support services.
