Risk in withdrawing stimulus too soon: IMF

International Monetary Fund managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said the global economy is at risk if policy makers withdraw stimulus measures from their economies too soon.

In a speech made in Berlin last week, Strauss-Kahn said the global economy appears to be emerging from the downturn, but economies are at risk if they withdraw their economic stimulus measures prematurely.

“Premature exit from accommodative monetary and fiscal policies is a principal concern,” he said.

He added: “Given the fragility of the recovery, there are risks that it could stall.”
