Kraft has unveiled a new name for its cheesy Vegemite spread, after the disaster than was iSnack2.0.
The company held a public vote over the weekend, giving the public six options to choose from: Cheesybite, Creamymate, Smooth, Snackmate, Vegemate, Vegemild; and Cheesybite was decided as the winning name.
In a press release this morning, the company said that 36 percent of voters opted for Cheesybite, followed by Vegemite smooth (23 percent).
Kraft Foods’ Australian head of corporate affairs Simon Talbot said in a statement: ”We have been overwhelmed by the response of the Australian public… Australians have now selected a popular name for a successful product.”
The company said the new name would appear on shelves ”in the coming months.”
