Australia’s media and marketing website Mumbrella got their users going this morning when they revealed a secret plot by the Government to tax Twitter.
The article quotes, “Mumbrella understands that the government is planning to tax Twitter users by the number of messages they send, at a rate of 1c per tweet. This will then be multiplied by the number of followers they have.”
People across Melbourne have also been getting into the spirit, with the Herald Sun reporting residents of South Yarra woke to find their cars wrapped in cling wrap, in an April Fool’s stunt that swept through inner-city Melbourne.
In more serious reports, security analysts have claimed that there could be a possible online virus circulating today, with a Conficker worm expected to infect over 10 million computers.
Symantec regional endpoint security manager Robert Pregnell believes that such threats are extremely dangerous because they operate in “stealth mode”, and cannot be detected by traditional anti-virus software products.
