Environment Minister Peter Garrett has unveiled new guidelines for the Federal Government’s $4 billion Energy Efficient Homes Package, which will make it easier for Australians to reduce their carbon footprint, while saving on energy bills.
The Australian Government has estimated up to 2.9 million households will be eligible for the ceiling insulation rebate, which will allow them to slash their energy bills by up to $200 a year, while reducing their environmental footprint.
Over 20,000 households have already taken advantage of the offer and Fletcher Insulation, manufacturer of Pink Batts insulation products, has urged Australian homeowners to take advantage of the insulation package and not to compromise on the quality of the insulation products and services they choose.
There are two programs on offer:
- Homeowner Insulation Program – provides assistance of up to $1600 to eligible owner-occupiers to install ceiling insulation in their principal place of residence with little or no existing ceiling insulation.
- Low Emission Assistance Plan for Renters – provides up to $1,000 to eligible landlords and tenants to install insulation in private rentals and other properties (including holiday homes) with little or no existing ceiling insulation.
