Small businesses are switching the video conferencing over business travel to enhance productivity, according to a survey conducted by StollzNow Research for Telstra Business.
Productivity through saving time topped the list of reasons the more than 300 businesses surveyed chose to use video conferencing with 61 percent of participants indicating this was the case, followed by saving money (43 percent) and for environmental reasons (28 percent).
“Some 45 percent of SMEs say they regularly have meetings with suppliers, clients and other key people and almost nine in 10 would rather have those dealings face-to-face than by landline or email,” said Will Irving, Telstra Business group managing director.
Video conferencing has become more popular with smaller businesses as the quality has increased and the service becomes more affordable. “Historically, video conferencing has been a solution for very large companies only, as the cost and implementation overheads have been too high for smaller businesses,” Irving said.
The report showed that 47 percent of respondents would consider using high quality video conferencing for some of all of their meetings due to these factors.
