As flexible work modes and collaborative workspaces move from obscurity to mainstream, the New South Wales state government is getting on board with a new pilot program.
The NSW Government is currently seeking expressions of interest from businesses and organisations able to start and run a pilot ‘Smart Work Hub’.
A so-called Smart Work Hub is a place that allows staff and entrepreneurs to work on projects outside of their ordinary workplace. It fosters collaboration, and represents an alternative workspace to the normal ‘serviced office’ style workplace.
Additionally the Smart Work Hubs offer a workspace much closer to home, and the program is particularly targeting workers in the Western Sydney and Central Coast regions.
Financial assistance will be made available to successful applicants or consortia to establish and operate a pilot Smart Work Hub, to be determined by a two-stage competitive public process.
The pilot project aims to:
- help grow knowledge-based industries
- support flexible working arrangements
- offer commuters an alternative work location closer to home.
- The pilot will mainly target the Western Sydney and Central Coast regions, with other regions also being considered.
- Successful applicants to the pilot program will receive financial assistance from the NSW Government to start and operate a pilot Smart Work Hub.
