“No time” Is Not An Excuse To Improve Your Health

Last week was action packed for me and maybe nothing in comparison to one of your weeks.

Here is a summary of my week:

  • Development of a new product for my business; a competitive analysis report; 3 proposals to speak at conferences around Australia; further development of my key note presentations and answering over 150 emails.
  • I am moving house so a full day calling, meeting and following up tradesman. (Aside – how stressful is moving house? Grrrrr!)
  • And last week was the first week of the Shute Shield – Sydney’s rugby season. It is my debut season as a co-coach of 1st Grade, so I was excited and feeling pressured!

And Monday was a public holiday! All this in 4 days.

HealthOne fact I couldn’t hide from was at the end of the day I would be too emotionally and physically exhausted to work out – plus I really need to help out feeding and bathing my 16 month year old at the end of the day, if I wanted a happy home!

The advantage of an early morning session, it would get my work out done for the day.

An early morning workout was my only choice. Geez I hate them! Especially despise them when the alarm goes and it is dark outside or raining.

Well I am excited to say that I worked out at 5:15am every day! And felt fantastic all day.

Would I choose to work out while the majority of the world is asleep?

Absolutely not!

But this is about time management. I had busy days – like you. I know the importance of exercise in my life. I know my productivity and clear thinking increases when I have exercised in the morning. I had no choice.

I am used to and prefer an 8am work out but this new time has been great. I get it done and out of the way,

And yes, I have had to go to bed earlier, which meant I missed some great TV shows but that is why we have HD recorders, right?

My point is, I would never have thought I could do work outs at this time. But you can and here is how you can do it too:

  1. Started with focus and a goal in mind for the week;
  2. Tell people what you are doing to help keep you more accountable and gain their support;
  3. Understand the importance of exercise in how your body and mind works;
  4. Remind yourself you do not want to be a burden on the Australian health care system; and
  5. Great music on your Ipod!

Please consider not to use ‘no time’ as an excuse for not working out, just get it together and do it! It is a great time of year to be up early, so get up tomorrow and work out!

Your day will improve – I guarantee it OR your money back!

What do you think?
