To kick-off Global Sharing Week (4-11 June) in Australia, more than 20 gig economy platforms are participating in a free event that shows attendees how to generate additional income from their under-utilised assets and time.
The Income Booster Expo runs from 11am to 4pm on Sunday, 4 June at 55 Pyrmont Bridge Road, Pyrmont, Sydney. It is being hosted by Camplify, Zoom2U, Mad Paws and Spacer.com.au. Other participants include Airtasker, Better Caring, CarNextDoor, Blys, Wipe Hero, Bountye, RubberDesk, FoodByUs, Classbento, TidyMe, 2ndLease, Wrappli, The Volte, Kindershare, Popup Brands, HomeTime and Beam Australia.
Representatives from these businesses, including their founders, will be available at designated booths to field questions from attendees and offer advice on how much they can earn by tapping into the sharing economy. Attendees can also meet Australians who’ve generated significant earnings by using multiple platforms.
There will also be talks on the day about how else the sharing economy is helping Australians. This includes helping to bring the community together by sharing; recycling and how this pay-as-you-use economy is changing the way we live for a more efficient future.
Mike Rosenbaum, founder of ‘AirBnB of storage’ Spacer and co-founder of The Sharing Hub, Australia’s first sharing economy accelerator, told Dynamic Businesses there are a number of ways people can save and make money by utilising the sharing economy.
He explained, “This can be done by simply using assets that are sitting dormant and un-utilised, such as a spare space, a car and even a campervan. Using a sharing economy business… can help every day Australians earn an extra income (even up to $30,000) every year to put towards anything they desire.”
According to Deloitte’s latest report into the sharing economy in NSW, revenue amongst the state’s major players reached $2.6 billion in 2016, a 68% increase on the previous year. Further, the number of people generating income through sharing economy platforms in NSW doubled in 2016, reaching 92,400 people.
