Around one in ten business owners plan to take advantage of
WorkChoices laws to implement workplace reform in their business,
according to a new nation-wide survey.
In the recent poll, conducted by Action International Business
Coaching, 11 percent of small businesses indicated they have
implemented, or intend to implement, changes to employment
conditions in their business as a result of the federal
government’s new industrial relations laws.
Of businesses ready to make changes to their workplace conditions,
39 percent said they would introduce individual agreements to the
workplace, 17 percent indicated they planned to change pay rates
and 10 percent said they would dismiss an employee.
It still appears to be early days in terms of small business’
attitudes towards the new laws, however while a quarter of those
surveyed supported the new industrial relations laws, 37 percent
still remain undecided.
