Retailers across the country were recognised for best practice at the recent annual American Express Rewards for Excellence.
Top accolades went to Gloria Jean’s Coffees, who were awarded the American Express Supreme reward for Best Retailer. Now with 342 outlets operating around Australia, the cafe franchise was acknowledged for its success across many streams of business, including an effective franchising model, stable management practices, enthusiastic teamwork and support of Australian charities. It also picked up the Bank of Queensland award for Best Franchise.
The Rewards for Excellence are now in their 12th year and are designed to give retailers a chance to be commended by the industry, peers and the general community.
.Almost 30 awards were presented on the night. Winners included outdoor lifestyle chain BCF Australia who won the Westfield Best New Retail Business, and the Bose Best Recreational Retailer; Country Road received the Westfield Best Fashion Retailer; and party planning and supply store The Prop House was named the Shopping Centre Council of Australia Best Specialty Retailer.
Aaron Eames from Woolworths at Rockingham City Shopping Centre in Western Australia was declared the 2006 American Express Young Retailer of the Year.
