WorkCover SafeWork Award entries open now

Entries for the annual WorkCover NSW SafeWork Awards are now open, with entry open to any registered business, organisation, individual or not for profit organisation in NSW.

The awards are designed to recognise, reward and promote high standards of work health and safety in workplaces around the state.

Whilst a safe and healthy workplace is a legal requirement for all NSW businesses, these Awards specifically seek to recognise and reward those organisations and individuals who have gone the extra mile to make their workplaces an even safer environment.

The categories for the 2011 SafeWork Awards are:

  1. Best workplace health and safety management system
  2. Best solution to an identified workplace health and safety issue
  3. Best workplace health and safety practices in a small business
  4. Best individual contribution to workplace health and safety

These Awards also serve as an opportunity for colleagues and fellow professionals to share in improvements and innovations that foster a safer workplace.

The judging panel for the Awards will include senior representatives from WorkCover NSW, trade unions, employer groups and specialist WHS advisory bodies

In 2010, over one hundred entries were received from across a wide range of industries. Although quite different, all these entries had one thing in common: the aim of reducing risk and harm to workers in their workplaces.

Winners in each category will be eligible for entry in the National Safe Work Australia Awards.

All entries must be received by 5pm Friday 22 July. For more information, visit: http://www.safeworkawards.com.au/Enter-the-Awards/
