The Biggest Loser Sucks!

Within the community and even the fitness industry there is divided opinion on whether the Biggest Loser TV show encourages people to exercise or scares them to their next cup cake and couch session!

Personally, I love the show! I think it is unreal how we see the roller coaster road that the contestants go through each week. I hate missing an episode and have been known to IQ an episode, so I don’t miss it.

I admit I have a vested interest – Michelle Bridges and Shannon Ponton I know and are good friends. So that is why I started watching several seasons ago.

Generally, I feel that the show does inspire many people to get moving and improve their nutrition

I think Michelle is way over the top in her yelling and motivational style. I get why she does it but don’t think it is necessary. Believe me not many personal trainers are like this. So if this doesn’t inspire you, then find a personal trainer that does inspire you!

Shannon as a shrink . . . I think not. I question his skill level and ability to diagnose and psychologically help people. Nevertheless, this is an important component of being a personal trainer.

So yes there are real problems with the TV show. Nevertheless, despite their methods the contestants get results and the clichéd ‘journey’ shows how challenging it is for people. And I can understand WHY people simply say “It is too hard to lose weight and get fit.” The picture the Biggest Loser painted was not pretty!

But this season the ‘Masterclass’ on Fridays nights is as good an addition to the show as Haley Lewis!

This episode finally teaches the contestants and therefore the viewers HOW to make changes in life forever with quality education from true experts and motivational stories from people we just can’t help but respect.

So what has this to do with business?

Well simple . . . take time out from work for 90 minutes on a Friday night and do yourself a favour by watching the Masterclass. This alone maybe a great exercise – taking time out on a Friday night!

I think you will be amazed how much you will learn and how easy you will find it is to start making healthy choices in your life.

What have you got to lose?

What do you think?
