Results from the latest NAB SME Survey have shown that Government policies are standing in the way of small business improvement and development, according to Shadow Small Business Minister Steven Ciobo.
The survey found that conditions for small business remain “poor” in all states and “Government policies” were cited as the biggest challenge facing small businesses.
Ciobo said despite the slight improvement in outlook, small businesses were still seriously concerned about the new Fair Work Act, the continuing tightening of credit conditions for small businesses and Labor’s award modernisation.
Ciobo said the Coalition has called for urgent reform to insolvency laws which would help small businesses restructure and rehabilitate, rather than be sent down the route of liquidation.
