Australian company Power & Data Corporation has been globally recognised for its innovative design with a nomination for a German design award.
Power and Data Corporation, a product and industrial design company, was nominated for a Designpreis Deutschland 2010, or “German Design Award”, for its Mainline Power Track B Series adaptor. The Adaptor has a fully scalable global platform on which all new Mainline power adaptors and accessories will be developed. The common platform design enables rapid assembly and has expandable features that can house a replaceable fuse, LED indicator and a switch for added safety and flexibility.
Nominees of the German Design Award must have previously won at least one world-renown design award in order to be considered. The Mainline Power Track B- Series Adaptor has previously won both the Australian International Design Award and the European Red Dot Design Award. The nominees are selected by a jury of independent experts and are then nominated by the Ministries and Senators for Trade and Industry of the German States, or by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
The award represents the crème de la crème in design and innovation, according to Managing Director, Power & Data Corporation Simon Toovey.
“This outstanding success for Mainline has created international recognition for what is a brilliant and innovative product,” said Mr Toovey.
“The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany sets the global benchmark for quality design, with previous winners including the BMW, Audi, Braun, Mercedes Benz and Coca Cola. It’s a great achievement for an Australian company to be nominated for such a prestigious award.”
“The Mainline Power Track system has been installed in hundreds of schools as well as universities, broadcast centres and retail financial institutions, and these awards help us demonstrate our innovation and raise our profile across the world,” Mr Toovey added.
Currently, the Mainline Power Track B Series Adaptor is designed to be compliant with 10 key global regions, including China, the US, UK and Europe.
