Are you one of those employers who annoy their employees outside of office hours on their mobile devices? If you are, you’re not the only one. More than a third of employees get hounded even after they clock off, according to a recent LinkMe survey.
But if you are, you might want to stop, because 50 percent of employees being contacted by phone, email or SMS say the only reason they haven’t mentioned anything is because they fear for their jobs—it’s not because they don’t have a problem with it.
“There is no doubt that advancing technologies and greater connectivity mean that the modern employee is far more contactable than ever before,” says Campbell Sallabank, CEO of LinkMe. “While these technologies can be a very positive thing and provide for an increase in the flexibility of working conditions, they are also open to abuse from fellow workers and particularly from those in authority.”
More than half of employees agree that new technology is blurring the lines between work and play, and 23.2 percent of employees even check their email while on holiday.
