The Excom Education Express IT Salary Index has found the average entry level salary of IT staff has increased by $2,000 in the past year to reach $38,000.
The annual survey undertaken by Excom Education among 25,000 organisations in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore revealed the demand for trained IT staff remains high despite the economic climate.
Excom Education’s chief marketing officer, Cassandra Ashworth said the salary increase, along with students receiving placements within 2.5 weeks of completing their course, proves the industry is still thriving and that graduates with the right skills are in high demand.
“Employers are currently looking to do more with less. Having staff with multi skills, knowing how platforms work with each other and the soft skills to articulate to clients is a powerful combination,’’ she said.
