Australians in business are signing up to SourceBottle, a new site that helps generate publicity for subscribers by putting them in touch with key journalists.
SourceBottle is a free service that emails subscribers media queries in an effort to unearth ‘fresh’ sources with relevant subject-matter expertise.
SourceBottle founder Rebecca Derrington said the site gives everyone in business an opportunity to “get quoted” by responding to queries from journalists on a range of topics.
“If a subscriber gives a good response to a query, they’re often quoted in that journalist’s story and sometimes called upon for other stories, since they’re quickly positioned as a subject-matter expert,” she said.
“When you sign up, you’re asked to select topics you would like to receive queries on. This is to ensure that you’re only emailed relevant queries and don’t feel spammed.
“Likewise, journalists are drowning in press releases, so it just makes sense to offer a service that gives them a chance to say what they want and when they want it.”
Urgent query headlines are also tweeted @SourceBottle.
