Australia’s workforce is ageing; no surprise there. But what are you doing to retain older employees? After all, these committed employees have the skills you need.
National Seniors Australia has launched a Corporate Employees membership category, for employers looking to reward their 50-plus employees.
“Recent research funded by National Seniors has revealed that as workers get older, their motivations change,” says O’Neill. “They’re not as motivated by wither monetary benefits or career opportunities, but are much more altruistic and are also looking for job benefits that reflect their needs.”
A Corporate Employee membership costs $29 annually and includes discounts, social opportunities, a magazine subscription and access to senior-specialist insurance and travel services.
“Employers are facing the reality that the workforce is ageing, and, unlike in the past, there will not be a steady stream of youngsters to replace them,” says O’Neill. “Smart employers are already taking steps to retain mature age employees by introducing innovative programs and systems.”
