Retail turnover fell a seasonally adjusted 0.1 percent in June, with turnover falling most sharply in Department stores and Household goods retailing.
According to the latest ABS Retail Trade figures, the slight fall in June follows on from a dip of 0.6 percent in May.
Turnover fell 3.2 percent in Department stores and 0.7 percent in Household goods retailing and Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services.
Turnover rose 1.2 percent in Other retailing, 0.4 percent in Food retailing and 0.2 percent in Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing.
Turnover fell 0.5 percent in New South Wales, 0.8 percent in South Australia, 0.1 percent in Victoria and 0.7 percent in the Australian Capital Territory.
Turnover in Tasmania was relatively unchanged, but rose in Western Australia (0.5 percent), Queensland (0.2%) and the Northern Territory (0.6%).
In trend terms, turnover rose 0.1 percent for the month, and 1.7 percent compared with June 2010.
Turnover volume rose 0.3 percent, seasonally adjusted, in the June quarter.
