Aussies are stepping up their contributions to charities, with not for profit volunteer sharing organisation goodcompany reporting a 20 percent jump in volunteer numbers in recent months.
The recession is not getting people down, with the jump in volunteer numbers indicating that Aussies are ready to give back to others.
According to Andrew Coogan, General Manager of goodcompany, volunteering can be a great way for skilled professionals who are out of work to “keep their skills sharp, stay connected, keep their spirits high and maintain a positive outlook while searching for their next job.”
With this week marking National Volunteer Week, now is a great time to volunteer. For more information, please visit the Volunteering Australia website.
