Telecommunications specialist Comscentre has called on the Federal Government to engage further with SMEs over the National Broadband Network.
Comscentre managing director Ben Shipley said Federal Communications Minister Stephen Conroy has consulted with big business including Telstra, Optus and Foxtel about the broadband network but has neglected to get the opinions of smaller businesses.
“We call on Communications Minister Stephen Conroy to include small operators on his consultation panel,” he was quoted as saying.
“We haven’t had any industry consultation at all despite the fact small to medium-sized businesses make up 40 percent of the Australian economy.”
According to Shipley, small businesses must be included in the plans so they know what to expect and what investments need to be made in the future.
