Good news for job seekers as job ads rebound
After months of uncertainty, job seekers have finally been given some good news, with a major survey of employment advertising reporting a rebound last month.
The ANZ bank reported in its monthly survey, the total number of jobs advertised in major metropolitan newspapers and on the internet rose 5.2 percent last month. The ANZ’s survey reiterates employment gains reported over the weekend by the Olivier recruitment group. Olivier figures found that advertisements for full-time positions jumped up 5.9 percent last month, substantially more than the 4.6 percent increase in ads for part-time positions.
Director of the Olivier group said the figures show that the underemployment that has been concerning the recruitment industry as of late seems to be unwinging.
Warren Hogan, ANZ’s acting chief economist echoed these sentiments, commenting that the data implies that “Australia’s recovery from the recent downturn is gathering pace.”
