It seems the global financial crisis won’t stop people spoiling their mum this Mother’s Day with Retail Decisions latest survey of gift buying habits revealing more than 62 percent of people will still spend big this Mothers Day.
The survey of over 221 people across the country, also revealed that despite shoppers belief that the financial crisis will rein in spending (85 percent), only four percent will reduce their budgets, and when it comes to gift buying, 90 percent usually spend above their budget.
Of those surveyed, 45 percent admitted to spending several days thinking about the ideal present, but 40 percent leave their shopping until the last minute, resulting in rushed, over budget and potentially unwanted gifts.
The majority of participants (92 percent) also revealed that gift vouchers were high on their present list.
