Australia praised for lifestyle but not economy
A new global reputation poll has found that while Australians think very highly of themselves, the rest of the world does not think as much of it.

According to the Global Country Reputation Index, produced by the Reputation Institute in conjunction with research consultancy AMR Interactive, of the 34 countries surveyed, Australia came in first in the area of self-image, but did not rank so highly in other categories of business environment, culture and social welfare.
Australia was ranked 3rd out of 34 countries for its overall reputation, with G8 nations agreeing that Australia has the most appealing lifestyle in the world and the physical beauty of our environment.
However, when it came to culture, brands and innovation, technology, products and services, contribution to the global community or effective government, Australia did rank within the top five for any of these categories.
AMR Interactive’s Reputation practice manager and director of the Reputation Inatitute Australia, Oliver Freedman, said that while the results demonstrate how strong Australia’s reputation is among those living in G8 countires, this reulation is “based on the physical beauty of our environment and our lifestyle, rather than an advanced economy.”

Despite the mixed results, Australia is viewed as a positive place to invest, with research showing individuals in G8 nations consider our nation to be the fourth most likely place to invest in.
