  • Job seekers need to upskill and learn to work with AI and could find opportunities in freelancing or the virtual reality market
  • Expert gives her top tips for job seekers looking to prepare for these trends and improve their chances on the market

As we look ahead to 2025, the job market is set to change in some big ways. Whether you’re a job seeker polishing your resume or an employer hunting for the perfect hire, the way we work is evolving faster than you can say ‘artificial intelligence.’  “Companies are diving headfirst into new technologies, shaking up workplace dynamics, and scouting for skills that didn’t even exist a decade ago,” says Yassin Aberra, the CEO of Social Market Way, a digital marketing agency specializing in SEO.

The good news is, if you can stay ahead of the game and adapt to these changes, you’ll be in a prime position to either land your perfect gig or build a team that dreams are made of. Below, Yassin reveals the top five new trends that will be taking the world of work by storm in 2025.

AI And You

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) are shaking up the job market like never before. From automating tasks to driving business decisions, AI is both a threat and an ally. AI tools are helping employees supercharge their productivity by taking care of the boring stuff—think invoices and scheduling—so they can focus on creative, high-value work.

“To survive in the world of AI, job seekers need to highlight skills AI can’t replace, like strategic thinking and emotional intelligence,” says Yassin.

Digital services are king

Digital skills are the hot ticket to success in 2025. From social media management to AI consulting, the demand for digital expertise is skyrocketing. Why? With nearly 5 billion social media users, businesses need experts who can help them navigate this sprawling landscape. If you’re looking for a new job, there are hundreds of options in the digital services market right now.

For the love of freelancing

Gen Z and Millennials are rewriting the rules of work, and their love for freelancing is fueling the gig economy. Over half of Gen Z and nearly half of Millennials are already freelancing, driven by their desire for flexibility, ethical work environments, and a better work-life balance. If you’re having no luck locking down a traditional post, getting into freelancing could be the way to go.

Reskilling is the new job security

With AI and automation reshaping industries, staying employable means staying skilled. Over half of all workers will need to upskill or reskill by 2025, according to the World Economic Forum. “Making sure your skills are up to scratch is the best way to get hired in 2025,” says Yassin.

Virtual reality gets to work

Augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) are set to revolutionize remote collaboration and training. By 2025, over 60% of companies are expected to use immersive technologies for dynamic meetings and skill-building. “If you’re a tech-savvy freelancer or job seeker, learning to navigate or even create AR/VR environments will make you a key asset in this brave new world of work,” says Yassin.

Yassin Aberra, the CEO of Social Market Way, commented: “Job seekers today are navigating a rapidly changing landscape, and the secret to thriving in this environment is adaptability. It’s not enough to just polish your resume and hope for the best anymore. Employers want to see that you’re proactive, understand the trends shaping the future of work, and are ready to evolve with them. “Start by investing in your education, whether it’s learning new tech skills, exploring AI tools, or earning certifications in high-demand areas like digital marketing or data analysis. Upskilling is no longer optional—it’s the price of admission to the modern job market. And don’t underestimate the value of soft skills like creativity, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. These are the qualities that machines can’t replicate, and they make you invaluable.

“My final tip is to network like your career depends on it (because it does). Build relationships online and in person, and don’t just focus on landing a job—focus on being part of the conversation in your industry. A strong personal brand can open doors you didn’t even know existed.”
