The City of Sydney will be offering ten free business seminars from March to November, set to provide Sydneysiders with advice on starting a small business, launching a start-up, online marketing, and more.
This is the fourth year the City will be running its Business 101 seminar series, an initiative designed to help out both existing and budding small business owners.
Each of the ten seminars will provide opportunities for business owners to question industry experts and the City’s staff, with entrepreneuer case studies able to take attendees through the process of successfully running their own business.
“Many Sydneysiders dream of starting a small business, but it can be difficult to know where to start and how to navigate the business landscape,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said in a statement.
“These seminars will help people just getting started, as well as those ready to take the next step. There will be practical information, valuable advice and inspiring stories from small business owners who have been through the process themselves.”
Over 1,100 attendees sold out last year’s ten seminars, so the City is urging those wanting to attend to book as early as possible.
The ten free seminars, which will all be held at Customs House from 6.30pm-8.30pm, are as follows:

- Tech start-ups: introduction to the Sydney ecosystem – 26 March
- Live music – 29 April
- Marketing your business in an online world – 3 June
- Food businesses and outdoor dining – 1 July
- Start and grow: creative industry from art to business – 29 July
- Grow your business – 26 August
- Tech start-ups: how to launch and scale your start-up – 23 September
- Food trucks – 7 October
- So you want to start a small business? – 18 November
