Microsoft Office 2010 hits Australian retailers today

Microsoft Office 2010, Visio 2010 and Project 2010 are now available in retail stores in Australia, with Microsoft launching the product with an event in Sydney Today.

Microsoft Office 2010Microsoft Australia is holding what they call an ‘Office Mayor Meetup’ at Martin Place in Sydney today from 12:10 – 1:10pm to celebrate the release of Microsoft Office 2010 to retail consumers in Australia. This event invites Foursquare users who have achieved ‘Mayor’ status of their office, business or home to check-in at the Office Mayor Meetup 2010 Foursquare location. The first 110 Foursquare mayors to arrive, check-in and leave an online tip will have the chance to win a copy of Office Home and Business 2010.

Microsoft Office 2010 is now available through Australian retailers Dick Smith Electronics, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi and Office Works. In addition to Microsoft Office 2010 being available to download directly from Microsoft at office.com and microsoftstore.com.au.

Tracey Fellows, Managing Director, Microsoft Australia expects the Office 2010 launch to be the biggest release of Microsoft Office for the company ever.

“Office 2010 has new ways to create great-looking documents and bring your ideas to life. Picture editing, video editing and creative formatting are all enhanced with Office 2010 making it easier for you to look more professional and create amazing documents with real visual impact. It delivers the best productivity experience across the PC, phone or browser.”

“Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 will redefine how Australian businesses can use technology to save, innovate and grow.” she Fellows.

“People are working differently and expect their software to work the way they do. The 2010 products reflect this generational change by delivering the best productivity experience across the PC, phone and browser so you can be productive wherever you are – at home, at a customer site, on an airplane or even without a PC, because you can now access your documents across a range of devices,” said Fellows.

Customers who are using Microsoft Office for Mobile will be able to download Office 2010 for Mobile as a free upgrade from Microsoft Marketplace with their phone (if they have version 6.1 of Windows Mobile or newer).
