Apple’s new iPhone 4, launched earlier today by Apple CEO Steve Jobs in San Francisco, USA, will attempt to capture the e-book market after Jobs announced the advent of an iBooks app and an iBookstore.
The iBooks app will allow users to read PDF format documents along with the epub format books.
The iBooks app also enables users to buy, read and synch e-books across iPhone 4, an iPod Touch or the recently released iPad, closing in on Amazon’s popular e-reader, the Kindle device.
The new iPhone 4 runs on iOS4 software, which also runs on the iPad. It will also be available free to iPhone 3G and 3G S users from June 21.
