I love Unit Man. Unit Man represents all that is good about short, calculative shopping partners. When brands started to get all sneaky by reducing the weights and volumes of their products while retaining the same price and packaging, what was a numerically challenged shopper to do?
Call the ACCC, apparently, and inspire them to develop Unit Man to help with unit pricing.
Unit Man got me thinking about other shopping-related superheroes that consumers should be able to call on:
Mirror man: Will show you how that dress really looks, and be honest about whether your bum looks big in that. A saviour for both changing room challenged women and compliment compromised men.
Register runner: Leaps long checkout lines, never needs a price-check for Metamucil, packs crackers and watermelons separately, and whisks everything into your pantry faster than a speeding bullet.
Walker wizard: Allows you to stroll the shops with ease by parting crowds in aisles and around clothing racks. Also retrieves items from the high shelves and finds your size from garment piles, then carries your purchases without whining, while you shop some more.
