The local alterations franchise hemmed over 3000 pairs of jeans around the country with more than a third of proceeds going to charity.
“Sewing fashion with fundraising together made sense for our network and we appreciate the continuous support of our customers and franchisees who are helping us to raise money for such a worthwhile cause,” Looksmart Alterations’ Founder and Managing Director Abaraham Hatoum said.
To push the national fundraising efforts, and help Australians look good in their jeans, Looksmart Alterations reduced the price of jeans shortening by almost $7 between 1 and 5 August at 72 stores across Australia.
From every hem, $5 was donated to the fundraising effort. The pop up alterations suite in Sydney’s Martin Place only charged $5 for a shortening with all proceeds going to the charity.
“We are committed to providing ongoing support to the Jeans for Genes fundraising effort and aim to raise $100,000 for the charity over the next five years.”
Founded in 1994, Hatoum has expanded Looksmart Alterations to over 95 stores Australia wide, making it the largest brand in the fashion service industry. He hopes to combine corporate responsibility, franchisee engagement and effective branding with their fundraising efforts.
