Parramatta is calling all innovative entrepreneurs

The Parramatta City Council is today launching a new creative grants program with the aim of boosting creativity, and breathing new life into areas of Parramatta’s CBD.

Lord Mayor Cr John Chedid said the Activate Parramatta grant program will bring innovation and creativity to the city, and grants of $10,000+ are on offer for those looking to get their start in Parramatta.

“We’re encouraging entrepreneurs with a business idea that is original, has commercial potential and will contribute to the diversity and vibrancy of Parramatta, to submit their idea today,” Cr Chedid said.

“We’re excited by this new program, which is about government stepping out of the way, reducing red tape and creating opportunities for innovative new ventures.”

“Our message to entrepreneurs is: tell us what you want to do and we will do our best to make it happen,” Cr Chedid said.

The winning ideas will be eligible for grants and support from the council, including assistance with negotiating property leases.

Priority sectors for the program are retail, hospitality and creative industries. One key space available to a program winner will be the historic Parramatta Town Hall.
