The 2013 National Small Business Summit will focus on driving policy and building relationships that benefit small business owners.
The Council of Small Business of Australia (COSBOA) will host a discussion with industry representatives, senior politicians and bureaucrats about key issues facing small businesses in the run-up to the Federal election.
“We need to make sure that the key issues facing small business are being discussed and heard by our politicians. The themes of the 11th National Small Business Summit will help facilitate the debate, drive policy and build partnerships for the betterment of our small business people,” said Amanda Lynch, Chair for COSBOA.
Executive Director of COSBOA, Peter Strong, has declared 2013 the year to give the small business community of Australia the rights and independence they deserve, starting at the Summit. He adds that the Summit will give all stakeholders a significant platform to engage in important policy conversations for the voting 2.5 million small business people in Australia.
“The Summit will cover important issues including policies for workplace relations, improvements to the collection of superannuation and paid parental leave, fairness in contract law and competition policy and removal of burdensome compliance and regulation demands on small business people,” said Strong.
Confirmed to attend the Summit is the Federal Minister for Small Business, The Hon Chris Bowen MP, the Shadow Federal Minister for Small Business, The Hon Bruce Billson MP.
The Summit will once again be supported by National Australia Bank (NAB).

The 2013 NAB National Small Business Summit will be held in Brisbane in July, two months before the Australian federal election.
