Online retailers should expect a good share of the shopping pie this Christmas, but most online customers haven’t started their shopping yet, a survey reveals.
The results of an online poll conducted by leading beauty e-tailer Adorebeauty.com.au revealed that of the 1328 people surveyed, 96 percent planned to buy at least some Christmas gifts online, but 85 percent hadn’t yet started their Christmas shopping.
When asked about their plans for online vs. bricks-and-mortar Christmas shopping, 51 percent of survey respondents planned to buy “just a few things” online, while 42 percent intended to do most of their shopping online.
The vast majority, however, had not yet made Christmas purchases, with 69 percent of respondents stating they had started thinking about their shopping lists but had not yet bought anything; while 16 percent responded that they usually left everything until the last minute.
Commenting on the results, Adorebeauty.com.au founder Kate Morris said: “It’s great for e-tailers to see the increasing trend of Christmas wallet share going towards online shopping. Every year we are converting more and more first-time internet shoppers.”
